KHAJRANA GANESH TEMPLE, INDORE
Khajrana Ganesh Ji is a Hindu temple situated in Khajrana area of Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The temple was built in 1735 by Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar. She retrieved the idol of god Ganesha from a well where it had been hidden to keep it safe from the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb. It is said that the ancient idol in the temple was seen in a dream of a local priest, Pandit Mangal Bhatt. The temple is still managed by the Bhatt family. This Temple holds the largest Ganpati statue in the world. Idol when measured from crown to foot, its 8 meters in length. Lord Ganesh Ji is with his wife's Riddhi and Siddhi along with his sons Subh and Labh and Goddess Saraswati. Apart from the main denity, we can see 32 temples around the temple. The ambiance of the temple is very soothing and peaceful. Devotees offer laddoo and modaks and also tie Raksha Sutra around a banyan tree. It is been believed that by tieing their wish will be fulfilled very soon. Ganesh Chaurthi and every Wednesday is the day when large amount of devotees visit the temple.
