DESCRIPTION

Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple is a renowned Vaishnav temple located in Tirumala Hills, Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. It is also famous as Tirupati Balaji Temple, Tirupati Temple, and Tirumala Temple.The deity present here is a manifestation of Lord Vishnu; He is said to have emerged to protect humanity from the tribulations of Kalyug.

Built in a beautiful Dravidian style of architecture, it is believed its construction commenced from about 300 CE. The Garbagrih (Sanctum) or Anand Nilayam is home to Lord Venkateswara, the main deity; facing East, He is in standing pose here. Vaikhanasa Agama tradition of worship is followed. The temple is considered to be one of the 8 Vishnu Swayambhu Kshetras.
